Monday nights at Québec City’s ANTI Bar, right in the heart of Saint-Roch, often come with pleasant surprises.
October 6 was no exception, with an excellent show from Canadian pop-punk/post-hardcore band Calling All Captains.
Yeah, we’re a bit late at PPRU, but we’re owning it! Two years after their last visit to Québec, the quartet delivered exactly what the crowd came for energy, emotion, and connection.

Violet Night Opens the Evening
Kicking things off, Violet Night, the duo from Toronto, brought their latest album Rosso Corsa to life.
Connor Pohl, the singer, dressed in a red Ferrari jumpsuit matching the album’s aesthetic, delivered a well-structured and engaging performance.
The crowd responded warmly, several fans made their way to the merch table after the show, a clear sign of appreciation. The band was approachable and genuinely grateful for the Québec audience’s support.

The ANTI Bar: A Small Venue with a Big Heart
L’ANTI Bar remains one of Québec City’s most distinctive venues. Small, yes, but perfect for real interaction between artists and fans.
It’s the kind of independent venue we love and want to support, especially in today’s tough climate.
A true cornerstone of Québec’s alternative culture.
That night’s crowd perfectly reflected the pop-punk and hardcore community: flannel shirts, tattoos, bold hairstyles, and good vibes all around.

Calling All Captains: Raw Energy and Audience Connection
Calling All Captains hit the stage with intensity. The set was fairly short, but the band played tight, confident, and clearly happy to be back in Québec City.
Frontman Luc Gauthier wasted no time connecting with the crowd, encouraging movement, sing-alongs, and plenty of shared energy.
They played the latest tracks from their summer EP (E)Motionless Sickness, before closing with their newest single, A New Type of Grey, released in September — a real banger.

A Lively Pop-Punk Scene in Québec City
After the show, fans hung around to chat with Tim, the drummer, and with other passionate concertgoers. The vibe stayed friendly and genuine, true to ANTI Bar’s alternative spirit.
Violet Night and Calling All Captains are now continuing their tour through Eastern Canada before heading south to the U.S.
Their stop in Québec proved one thing: even on a Monday night, pop-punk still hits hard in the capital.

A few days after the show, on October 10, we marked World Mental Health Day — a good moment to highlight Papa Roach and Carrie Underwood’s 2024 collaboration against suicide, a moving cover of “Leave a Light On / Talk Away the Dark.”
